Two wallpapers tonight, but there's an unusually complex story behind them.

Some of you may recall that my literary muses have a nefarious habit of throwing me plot bunnies for characters I dislike intensely, such as Rogue from X-Men or Tom Sawyer from LXG. Well, now my graphic-arts muses seem to be picking up the same contrariness.

The result is Danny and Peg, a City For Conquest wallpaper featuring Mister Right and Miss Wrong in a completely unintentional 'shippy light. A few of you may be delighted with it, but I was... nonplused. I honestly intended to make something that would be a subtle barb directed at Peg. I deliberately used a font called "Selfish" on the text, which consists of lyrics from "If You Could Only See" by Tonic--a song that fits my perception of the pairing as a good man pursuing a bad woman. Most of the text is barely there, though, so it won't disrupt enjoyment by those of you who for some strange reason are sympathetic to Peg.

This brings us to the second wallpaper. Being irked that I had produced such a beautiful, Victorianesque piece for a 'ship I don't even like, I decided to recreate it with that most ultimate of screen couples--Nick and Nora Charles. This version is even more elaborate, and I do believe it's one of the best wallpapers I've made yet.
