Classic movies are the subject of tonight's installment from my backlog of [community profile] fan_flashworks prompt submissions. It includes five wallpapers and a set of icons.

Featuring James Cagney, Claire Bloom, Red Skelton, Karloff & Lugosi, and Lon Chaney Jr. )

[livejournal.com profile] autumn_meadows made a request for Bride of Frankenstein header banners, so I made these. Three variations, sized 900x300, featuring Boris Karloff and Elsa Lanchester in their iconic roles.

Clearing out a backlog, here are icons of Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Audrey Hepburn, Aline MacMahon, Claudette Colbert, and Greta Garbo. Most of these have been seen previously as texture examples, but a few of the Aline icons are new.

jordannamorgan: Bela Lugosi as Dracula. (Bela)

Two wallpapers, respectively featuring Bela Lugosi in Dracula and Boris Karloff in Son of Frankenstein. In fact, these are usage examples for a wallpaper texture set that will be posted next month--so if you like the effect of them, stay tuned. *g*

Yes, I just posted two texture sets over the weekend, but here's a bonus! Last night I found some gorgeous stills from the incredibly atmospheric 1932 horror film Vampyr. They were so inspiring, they resulted in both a texture set and a set of icons.

Preview and download here! )

If you like these textures, be sure to check out the accompanying icons as well.

By request of [livejournal.com profile] ravens_gate, here are a dozen friends-only banners featuring classic horror films.

Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Peter Cushing, et. al. )

While we're on the subject, if anyone has requests for classic horror or Halloween-related graphics in time for October, this is the time for it. And I've been considering a sequel to my Dracula icon text brushes, featuring quotes from other classic horror films; is anyone interested?

Finally! Some of these were tied up in icontests, and had to wait quite a while for posting. Anyway, thirty-four classic icons, including Veronica Lake [9]; Fredric March [8]; Charles Laughton [7]; Jean Arthur [5]; Boris Karloff as Frankenstein [2]; Humphrey Bogart & Claude Rains [1]; Leslie Howard [1]; and Allen Jenkins [1].

This way to the odd lot... )

Here's the November classics roundup: thirty-five icons featuring Danny Kaye, Peter Cushing, James Cagney, George Sanders (the Saint), Cyd Charisse, Claude Rains, Marlon Brando, Boris Karloff, Edward G. Robinson, Basil Rathbone, and Rosalind Russell.

Several are personal favorites from my birthday month. )

For the mutant-fan viewers of this journal, a batch of X-Men icons should be forthcoming in less than two weeks. They will mostly feature Cyclops and Storm, the two characters I have lately partaken of challenges for.
jordannamorgan: Mary Pickford with a bouquet of roses. (Love Roses)

I made no X-Men icons during the very busy month of October, but I did manage to eke out forty classic film icons. Coming from me, you can be sure there's plenty of leftover Halloween candy in this batch. *g*

Contents: [8] Mary Pickford; [3] Myrna Loy; [4] Deborah Kerr; [6] Tyrone Power; [9] Boris Karloff; [4] Frankenstein; [2] Bela Lugosi (Dracula); [1] The Wolf Man; [1] Humphrey Bogart (The Return of Doctor X); [1] Peter Cushing; [1] Arsenic and Old Lace.

When you get to my door, tell them Boris sent you... )

There should be more Tyrone Power and Deborah Kerr icons in the future. I still have several bases for each that I've been too busy to get to yet.

These were entered in last month's [livejournal.com profile] classicicontest wallpaper challenge, and are now free to be posted. Featuring Ginger Rogers, Boris Karloff in Frankenstein, and Bela Lugosi in Dracula.

It reminds me of the broken battlements of my own castle in Transylvania. )
jordannamorgan: Danny Kaye and Virginia Mayo as Walter Mitty and Rosalind Van Horn, "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". (Southern Belle)

Well, I promised some Abbott & Costello icons in this batch, but I'm afraid the moderator of the icontest they were entered in has gone absent. (Hopefully she's alright!) I was really hoping to see how they would place, so I'm going to wait another month and see if she returns to put the challenge through its vote. If not, I will definitely post them in early September.

In the meantime, we have forty-eight icons: (11) Jimmy Stewart; (8) Carole Lombard; (7) Joan Blondell; (6) Gene Tierney; (4) Sydney Greenstreet; (2) Boris Karloff; (2) Audrey Hepburn; (2) Margaret Lindsay; (1) Vivien Leigh; (1) Danny Kaye; (1) Leslie Howard; (1) Edward G. Robinson; (1) Basil Rathbone; (1) Vampyra. Sorry, no X-Men icons this time around--due mostly to a lack of interesting challenges in those communities in the last month.

If it seems like a lot of girls... it is. That's what I got to work with. )
jordannamorgan: Frank McHugh as Francis, "Footlight Parade". (It Can't Be Done)

On the last Sunday of every month, I will be posting the month's roundup of challenge icons, along with "challenge rejects" that I made for icontests but chose not to submit (and perhaps any other loose icons I have on hand). Most of them will probably be classic film-related in the foreseeable future, but just about anything might turn up.

Since this is the first such post, all of the icons I've made for [livejournal.com profile] classicicontest are here, as well as some recent strays that I missed in my backposting. But amidst all of the old news (at least for some of you), there are a few icons here that have never been displayed before.

25 icons: James Cagney, Danny Kaye, Frank McHugh, and many more )

Because I needed the thrill that comes from having an empty "pending icons" folder. There's a little bit of everything here: X-Men, Danny Kaye, James Cagney, Fredric March, classic horror, and even "Monk". Several are icons that didn't make the cut for [livejournal.com profile] classicicontest. Others have just been sitting around for months.

25 assorted icons )
jordannamorgan: Bela Lugosi as Dracula. (Bela)

Four new wallpapers tonight. The Body Snatcher, Frankenstein, another Frankenstein... and something extra-speshul for [livejournal.com profile] beloved_tree which will probably get me clubbed upside the head.
jordannamorgan: Bela Lugosi as Vitus Werdegast, "The Black Cat". (Moody Bela)

Yes, you read that right. I was experimenting... and weird but wonderful things happened. Eight seasonal icons, evenly divided between Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff.

To celebrate the Halloween season, here's a big batch of twenty-five classic horror icons. Most are of various films from Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff, along with a cameo "appearance" by The Invisible Man.

Come along, old fly-eater... )
