Description and Comments:

01-09: One of my great personal favorites, Danny Kaye--respectively appearing in The Inspector General, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, A Song is Born, Wonder Man, Up in Arms, "The Muppet Show", and a trio of unknown publicity pics/live performances. (Another of my icons won first place in the Danny Kaye challenge, but I decided to keep that one for myself. *g*)

10-15: Peter Cushing as the wise and soulful but very dynamic Doctor Van Helsing in Hammer's horror classics, Horror of Dracula and Brides of Dracula. These were made for a challenge with the theme of "heroes", in which #8 won an award for Best Coloring.

16-20: James Cagney in The Oklahoma Kid, G-Men, and Winner Take All. These were for the heroes challenge as well--Cagney and Cushing being the only two actors who are also real-life heroes to me. (It's an amusing irony that when the oft-sterotyped Cagney finally did go carting around a tommy gun on screen, it was as a lawman, not a gangster.)

20-24: George Sanders as Simon Templar, the Saint. Somewhat to my surprise, the rather playful #19 took first place in the heroes challenge. It was quite pleasing to see one of my all-time favorite literary characters receive such appreciation. In this case, I'd like to think it was more the subject than my craftsmanship!

25-28: Cyd Charisse. I'm not a fan, but since I had saved the pictures for the challenge anyway, I rather indifferently made these four icons.

29-31: The inimitable Claude Rains, submitted for a "letter R" challenge. #27 (colorized by me) won first place.

32-34: Marlon Brando--albeit mostly in stylized muscle shots. #30 won a mod's choice.

35-36: Boris Karloff. These are just variations on two of the icons I made for Halloween back in October.

37: Edward G. Robinson as Wolf Larsen in The Sea Wolf. Again, the colorization is my work.

38: Basil Rathbone as Sherlock Holmes. A somewhat odd but interesting icon, attempting on my part to visually express the theme of mystery literature.

39: Rosalind Russell flexing her girlpower in His Girl Friday. My colorizing yet again. (Of course I'm totally biased, but I still maintain that the 1931 original--The Front Page with Pat O'Brien, Frank McHugh, Edward Everett Horton, and Adolphe Menjou--is better and funnier than its far more famous remake.)

40: A bonus icon. This is actually a bit of digital scenery from "The Secret Adventures of Jules Verne", which finds the protagonists arriving at a vampire's castle. I thought the image would be appealing to some as a sort of fairytale scene.

If you enjoy my work and would like to show appreciation for it, I welcome tips in the form of Dreamwidth Points. (Enter my username "jordannamorgan" as the account you're buying for.)

For the mutant-fan viewers of this journal, a batch of X-Men icons should be forthcoming in less than two weeks. They will mostly feature Cyclops and Storm, the two characters I have lately partaken of challenges for.
