For the prompt of "Shadow" at [community profile] fan_flashworks, five icons of characters being menaced by shadowy figures in classic horror films. Although I normally work with colored textures, I chose to leave these icons black and white, in order to retain the starkness of shadow and light.

One last note. I've created a couple more Halloween icon texture sets--so instead of every other week, look for seasonal texture offerings on [livejournal.com profile] wolfbane_icons every week this month!

Clearing out a backlog, here are icons of Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Audrey Hepburn, Aline MacMahon, Claudette Colbert, and Greta Garbo. Most of these have been seen previously as texture examples, but a few of the Aline icons are new.

I cut a lot more bases, so I may well turn out another batch of Wolf Man icons at a later date--but this will have to do for now, as I have a "Fullmetal Alchemist" Halloween story to try to finish this month. (Insert [community profile] prose_alchemist plug here...)

Have a frightfully good Halloween, all!

Two wallpapers, respectively featuring Bela Lugosi in Dracula and Boris Karloff in Son of Frankenstein. In fact, these are usage examples for a wallpaper texture set that will be posted next month--so if you like the effect of them, stay tuned. *g*

Yes, I just posted two texture sets over the weekend, but here's a bonus! Last night I found some gorgeous stills from the incredibly atmospheric 1932 horror film Vampyr. They were so inspiring, they resulted in both a texture set and a set of icons.

If you like these textures, be sure to check out the accompanying icons as well.

While we're on the subject, if anyone has requests for classic horror or Halloween-related graphics in time for October, this is the time for it. And I've been considering a sequel to my Dracula icon text brushes, featuring quotes from other classic horror films; is anyone interested?
jordannamorgan: Edward Van Sloan as Abraham Van Helsing, "Dracula". (Van Helsing 1931)

I guess I forgot to clear out my pending icons folder for a while. *g* Here's a big batch of six dozen classic icons, including James Cagney [18]; Henry Fonda [12]; Spencer Tracy [9]; Lana Turner [8]; Gregory Peck [8]; Charles Boyer [6]; Jean Simmons [3]; Joan Blondell [2]; Frank Capra [2]; Cary Grant [1]; and 3 different icons from Dracula, including an animation.

Recently, [livejournal.com profile] dj43 fulfilled my long-standing wish for screencaps from the legendary 1931 Dracula--for which I can't thank her enough. Of course I went crazy with the caps, so here is the result: one hundred and twenty icons!

I should note that besides Lugosi's Dracula, these icons heavily indulge my crazymadobsessive Van Helsing love, and quite a bit of Renfield love as well. *g*

ExpandListen to them... children of the night. What music they make. )

Incidentally, I made considerable use of my own Dracula text brushes on these icons. You can download that text pack here.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Here's a long-overdue batch of icons: a number of my favorite classic stars reading books and newspapers. This includes James Cagney, Claude Rains, Leslie Howard, Fredric March, Peter Cushing, William Powell, Bela Lugosi, and Vincent Price.

I made no X-Men icons during the very busy month of October, but I did manage to eke out forty classic film icons. Coming from me, you can be sure there's plenty of leftover Halloween candy in this batch. *g*

Contents: [8] Mary Pickford; [3] Myrna Loy; [4] Deborah Kerr; [6] Tyrone Power; [9] Boris Karloff; [4] Frankenstein; [2] Bela Lugosi (Dracula); [1] The Wolf Man; [1] Humphrey Bogart (The Return of Doctor X); [1] Peter Cushing; [1] Arsenic and Old Lace.

There should be more Tyrone Power and Deborah Kerr icons in the future. I still have several bases for each that I've been too busy to get to yet.

I've actually made four classic horror wallpapers recently, but the other two are entries for the "Halloween" theme in a challenge, so I won't be able to post them until the end of the month. In the meantime, here are Lon Chaney Jr. and Evelyn Ankers in The Wolf Man, and Bela Lugosi in Black Friday.
